SCHONBEK LIGHTS THE SILVER SCREEN IN GATSBY
Roman Empire by Schonbek, a member of the Swarovski group, costars in the film.Oscar® nominee Baz Luhrmann directed “The Great Gatsby” in 3D from a screenplay co-written with frequent collaborator Craig Pearce, based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel. The film stars Academy Award® nominee Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Oscar® nominee Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke and Elizabeth Debicki. Costarring were five extravagant Roman Empire chandeliers and four wall sconces by Schonbek®, a member of the Swarovski group. Echoing the dazzlingly scenes of the 1920s, Roman Empire is crowned with delicate crystal leaves and draped with strands of precious crystals. Roman Empire harmoniously blends with “The Great Gatsby’s” luxurious design intentions. The lavish sets were based on the grand houses of Long Island’s Gold Coast, such as Beacon Towers as well as Oheka Castle, which served as partial inspiration of Gatsby’s estate in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel. Roman Empire by Schonbek can be seen sparkling across the bay in a Georgian redbrick manor, home of Tom and Daisy Buchanan. Known for its heritage of beauty and handcraftsmanship, Schonbek is no stranger to the world of cinema. Schonbek chandeliers have appeared in such films as “Black Swan,” “Mirror Mirror” and “Die Another Day,” and its legacy of lighting the silver screen continues with “The Great Gatsby.” Opening May 10, 2013 in the US and May 17, 2013 in the UK, the film will be distributed in 3D and 2D by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.
